Ethiopian Airlines jet 'crashes into sea off Beirut' PDF Print E-mail

(BBC)An Ethiopian Airlines passenger plane has crashed into the Mediterranean Sea shortly after taking off from Beirut airport in Lebanon. Lebanese aviation sources said the plane was heading for the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa and had 85 passengers on board. Reuters news agency quotes airport sources as saying that about 50 of the passengers were Lebanese nationals. The majority of the remaining passengers were Ethiopian, they add. Thousands of Ethiopians are employed as domestic helpers in Lebanon. The plane, believed to be a Boeing 737, reportedly disappeared from radar screens some five minutes after take-off in stormy weather. The plane is said to have left Beirut shortly after its scheduled departure time of 0310 local time. Residents who live near the coast are reported to have witnessed a plane on fire crashing into the sea.

Fourteen hundred years ago, Allah, the Lord, decided to bring back humanity from the disgrace of slavery into the position of Allah's emissary on earth. That was Laylat Al Qadr (the Night of Power); the night when Angel Gabriel, on the command of Allah, made an eternal link between the heaven and the earth. Dutch MP on trial for 'hate speech' PDF Print E-mail

(Al Jazeera English )Geert Wilders, a right-wing Dutch MP, has appeared in an Amsterdam court on charges of inciting hatred against Muslims.
The Freedom Party leader is standing trial after a court overruled a decision by the public prosecutor, who had argued Wilders was protected by the right to free speech.

Wilders is being charged over his 2008 film Fitna, which urged Muslims to tear out "hate-filled" passages from the Quran and juxtaposes images of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US with quotations from the text.
Writing on his website before the trial on Wednesday, the MP said he would "remain combative and still convinced that this political process will only lead to an acquittal".
His supporters have staged demonstrations outside the court, holding banners saying "Freedom Yes", arguing that his prosecution would be an assault on freedom of speech...Full Story

Nairobi — Senior Muslim clerics on Wednesday declared their intention to sue the state for the colossal damage and death that resulted after last Friday's demonstration in Nairobi.
Already the clerics have contacted a Mombasa based legal firm, Mohammed Balala and Company's Advocates to prepare legal procedures required for the case against Attorney General Amos Wako, Internal Security minister George Saitoti, Nairobi Province PPO Anthony Kibuchi, Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) head Nicholas Kamwede.
Nominated MP Sheikh Mohammed Dor told Nation on the sidelines of a press conference attended by more than nine Muslims organizations that they will seek damages of millions of shillings following colossal damage of property belonging to Kenyans of different religion.
